In this edition of Pension Clicks, we summarise forthcoming changes to the Pensions Regulator’s powers and other news in In Sight, explore why schemes should mind the gender gap in DC provision and share our new guide to The future of DC.

In Sight
Our quarterly summary of pensions issues looks at forthcoming changes to the Pensions Regulator’s powers, along with the DWP’s latest guidance on equalisation for GMPs by conversion. It includes updates on DC investments, CDC schemes and other news.

Mind the gap!
Sophia Singleton examines the differences between men’s and women’s retirement plans and in particular, how DC schemes can ensure their support structures are appropriate for all. First published in Pensions Age.

The future of DC
In our new guide, published with Professional Pensions, we consider the key elements of DC pension provision, comparing it to where it was 10 years ago and examining how it could look 10 years from now.

Member Options Survey 2019
Earlier this year, Aon’s member options team carried out a survey looking into the actions being taken by around 320 DB schemes. It explored the support being offered to members at retirement and other actions being taken by schemes to increase the range of flexibilities in DB schemes.

Interest rates – a change in path
A combination of slowing global growth, US/China trade wars and Brexit are threatening to change the path of interest rates. Our paper explores why it is as important as ever for pension schemes to re-evaluate their interest rate and inflation hedge programme in the current environment.

The many facets of multi-asset
Adrian Mitchell, our Chief Investment Officer, Delegated Consulting Services, joins a panel of experts discussing the definition of multi-asset investing and the role of multi-asset strategies and approaches in pension portfolios today, at a roundtable organised by Pensions Age.

What can we learn from the leaders in benefits governance?

Week in Markets
A summary of market movements over the past week.

Aon in the press
This month, we say that increased auto-enrolment contributions are positive news, but that most DB schemes have work to do to define their long-term funding target. We advise Bank of America Merrill Lynch on a £400m buy-in and expand our Risk Settlement team with the appointment of Dave Barratt. Our Study, published with the American Benefits Institute, identifies progress on global benefits governance.
