OCTOBER 2021
Pension Clicks
In this edition of Pension Clicks, we share details of the DWP’s consultation on the expansion of the Notifiable Events framework, ask whether your endgame is closer than you expect and announce our delegated investment business’s Net Zero Commitment.
Notifiable Events expansion
INTRODUCTION
Since 2005, employers and trustees have had to notify the Pensions Regulator of certain events. The Pension Schemes Act 2021 provided for an expansion of this framework and introduced fines of up to £1 million for failure to comply. The DWP is now consulting on the details of this expansion, including new events and a requirement for an ‘accompanying statement’ providing further details of the event. The consultation runs until 27 October.

It has been another good month for award wins; at the 2021 Pension and Investment Provider Awards we won the Derisking Consultant of the Year award (for the third time in the past four years), were highly commended in the Fiduciary Manager of the Year category and commended in Multi-Employer DC Provider of the Year.

Then, Aon’s Philippa Allen was named as one of Financial News’ 25 Rising Stars of Asset Management. Congratulations to Philippa and everyone involved in our recent wins!

The third in our quarterly webinar series shares updates on current pensions issues from a corporate perspective. Alongside a summary of the 'need to know' headlines from the last three months, the webinar focuses on how schemes can unlock value via GMP equalisation.

During this digital conference, we link three distinct areas with one common theme: what have recent experiences taught us to improve things for pension schemes and their members in future?
Aon’s DC Live week shared latest thinking and thought leadership across a range of topics – from checking whether your scheme is on track to deliver adequate retirement outcomes, and finding out what schemes are really doing about Responsible Investing, to how the industry is waking up to providing better support at retirement. All sessions now available on demand.

See how your pension scheme performed in 2020 (and why), and the latest market trends – including the impact of COVID-19 and RPI reform. During this discussion, our experts also walked through real world actions to help you to outperform the market in 2021.

Our webinar covers how to prepare your assets at the outset and as you move closer to buyout; considerations and benefits of doing phased buy-ins; managing investment through the broking process; and what makes a scheme more attractive to insurers in a busy market.

Listen to our recent webinar giving informative insights into the settlement opportunities available to your scheme in 2021 and beyond, and what you need to do to ensure that you are in the strongest position to begin your de-risking journey.

Our Risk Analyzer tool is now used by over 950 schemes to monitor various financial and risk measures. This video gives you an example of how Risk Analyzer could help you.
